Imagine having to survive on just 8.86 for an entire week - to cover all your food, toiletries, and essential items. For thousands of asylum seekers in the UK, this is not a challenge. It is their daily reality. AARC invites you to take the 8.86 Challenge: live on that amount for one week and experience first-hand the difficulties faced by asylum seekers. Your participation raises awareness and funds for our vital services. How It Works: 1. BUDGET: You have 8.86 to spend for the entire week on food, toiletries, and essentials. Plan your meals and purchases carefully! 2. DOCUMENT: Share your journey on social media using #LiveOn886 and tag us. Post pictures of your meals, shopping lists, and challenges. 3. DONATE: At the end of the week, donate what you would normally spend on groceries to AARC, plus any sponsorship you have raised. 4. CHALLENGE OTHERS: Nominate friends, family, or colleagues to take the challenge and keep the momentum going. Budget-Friendly Tips: - Plan simple, low-cost meals like porridge, beans on toast, or pasta with basic sauce - Buy in bulk: rice, lentils, and oats go a long way - Shop at discount stores and take advantage of end-of-day reductions - Walk or cycle instead of using public transport Why It Matters: The money you raise goes directly towards providing food parcels, clothing, legal advice, and mental health support for some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
